A Quilt in Taffy and Minky

This is so delicious....gorgeous pastel colours in the Tonga Batik line called Taffy.  Simple triangles, randomly assembled, this quilt is backed with minky and machine quilted in a orange variegated thread and a pattern called "Splash".  Gorgeous!  This is a special order and I know my customer will love it.

Oh Canada

I have been thinking about using some red Nancy Crow Marble Crush and make something along the lines of a Maple Leaf Quilt.  Yesterday I took the plunge and started cutting a big maple leaf and die cutting some smaller ones.  I fused it all on a white kona cotton and then machine quilted the Quilt with various designs.  I think it looks AWESOME.  No pattern was used other than to cut the maple leaves.  The quilt measures 60" x 80" and would make a beautiful Wall Hanging.  The Silk blend batting shows the quilting beautifully.

Flower Power - finished

It didn't take much thought to find a design that would fit the open areas of this Quilt.  I feathered the blocks with great results I think.  As I was binding it, it was claimed by a friend, so for the time being it is available as a custom order only.  I am planning on making a queen size fairly soon, as soon as I catch up with my machine quilting jobs.

Flower Power

A new fun Quilt, made with bits and pieces left over from designer collection.  It is a cute quilt, a bit bigger than lap size, not quite twin, but will make a nice coverlet.

How do I quilt it?  Any ideas from the masters of FMQ????  Would love some suggestions.

The Pedals themselves are fused and topstitched, they do not need any additional stitching, the open beige areas need lots of quilting.

Another one bites the dust..haha

It seems I have been occupied with custom orders these past few months, and here is another one just finished today.  Grandma's Fan Quilt, made specially for Barbara, with Amy Butler's Soul Blossom and Robert Kaufman Fusion.  Heavily machine quilted, stunning effect with Tuscany Wool batting, one of a kind.

Completed......

Here are the final pictures of a beautiful Quilt Set.  Pillow fronts have been quilted, they just did not look right unquilted.  I do not have pillow forms for the 20" square and 12" square pillow covers...  I sincerely hope this was what you are looking for and it was a pleasure to make this for you.  Thank you S & J.

Coconut and Cappuccino = YUMMY

I recently received a request to make a king size quilt from a lap Quilt pattern....lots of math for this old head, but after some calculating I got the blocks and layout all figured out.    Two packs of coconut strips and two packs of cappuccino strips where used in the body of this Quilt.  here is a peek at the Quilt which, when bound, will measure 100" x 110".  It is backed with a beautiful chocolate brown swirl tone on tone Henry Glass cotton and machine quilted with butterscotch variegated thread and a leaf pattern.

I love the fact that the Quilt can be used the long or short way, it looks equally attractive either way.  Now onto two quilted pillow shams and one european sham in the light border colour.

This is a custom order for Shawn and Jennifer...if you would like your very own, please contact me.

A little bit Folk(sy)

I have had these block of the Month Patterns for several years, no fabrics, just the patterns.  I recently purchased a couple hundred fat quarters from Nancy Halverson's "Bittersweet" collection and I thought they suited these patterns perfectly.  I made this quilt for the double bed in our RV and plan to make a queen/king for my Etsy Store soon.  I am not too pleased with the machine quilting, I know I can do better, but so it goes.

Where the creativity blossoms

My Studio, if you can call it that, I certainly do and it is all my space.  Once a nice size master bedroom with a little walk in closet and an ensuite master bath, complete with jetted tub, now the jetted tub holds packaged batting, the ironing board is in front of the sink, and the walk in closet has shelves on 3 sides and holds my bolts of fabric, projects I am working on, and boxes of fat quarters and bolts of backing.

It looks like chaos to others perhaps, but it is organized chaos, and it is my space.

Various dressers under my long arm quilting machine as well as against a wall hold all kinds of threads, stencils and other tools of the trade.  My cutting and sewing table is a kitchen table purchased years ago with a composite top, perfect for what I do.  A fantastic light system over my long arm is outfitted with daylight bulbs, giving me bright daylight anytime, day or night.  A wire basket shelf holds some of the pantographs I use frequently.

I love my studio, it is not ideal, but it is the best I have and it is organized so everything is within easy reach.
